By removing the water through our small-batch, freeze-drying process we essentially press the "stop" button on biological activity. When you add water back to them to make your smoothie you are pressing the "go" button and the biological activity starts up where it left off. This will be apparent if you don't finish your KOYAH smoothie within an hour of making it--you will notice it start to turn brown from the enzymes and bacteria, the same way a smoothie blended from raw produce would. For this reason, we recommend drinking our smoothies within 30 minutes of making them.
No! We source local produce as much as possible. Our organic kale and organic lemons are grown in California. When we need to venture outside the USA to source our organic mangos, pineapples, and bananas, we get them from South America and specifically avoid sourcing them from China due to the high amount of contaminants that is often present in Chinese soil and produce.
KOYAH is a short-hand spelling for Sequoia: the largest tree in the world. It is symbolic of our mission to provide nutritious products to help our customers be the healthiest they can be.

We formulated our smoothies to be mixed with 12 oz of liquid. Everyone's preferences are different. If you prefer a thicker texture, mix with 8 ounces of liquid. If you prefer a thinner texture, mix with 16 oz of liquid. Find the amount of liquid that tastes best to you and go with that!
We developed our smoothie powders to taste delicious when mixed with water. However, if you prefer a creamier texture or sweeter taste, try mixing them with your favorite nut milk or juice. No matter what you mix it with, you will be getting the health benefits of the living, whole plant foods that make up 100% of all our smoothies!
