What's the shelf life after opened? If you seal the jar tightly, the powder should last for 6 months after opening. If you live in a humid/hot climate, you might want to store your powders in the refrigerator to increase the shelf-life. Fruit powders especially tend to clump up in warm, humid climates.
How do you use KOYAH powders? Lots of ways! Smoothies, soups, sauces, desserts, yogurt, milks, water, etc. You can literally add our freeze-dried powders to anything you’re fixing up. Check out our recipes for some inspiration.
Do you test your products for heavy metals? We start by sourcing all of our products outside of China. Soils in China tend to have higher concentrations of heavy metals (particularly lead) which leads to fruits and veggies with higher levels of heavy metals. We also test the finished product for heavy metals to ensure safe levels and to make sure there is no contamination from the time it grows to the time it is packaged.
Are all of your products vegan? Yes! All of our products are vegan. There are zero additives. Just pure simple ingredients.
What is freeze-dried? It’s a low-temperature sublimation process where the water in a product is converted from a solid to a vapor without passing through the liquid stage. It involves freezing the product, lowering pressure then warming up the ice to just above the freezing point. Freeze-drying gives you a very high-quality product because it is done at a low temperature and there is never any liquid water present.
How do I store open containers? With the lid on tight, in a cool dry pantry, fridge, or freezer.
What's the shelf life? 2 to 3 years from the production date. It depends on the product.
Do you provide samples? We encourage you to buy our products to experience the quality of our powders. If you’re not satisfied, let us know at info@koyah.com and we’ll refund you 100% of your money back.
How long does it take to process and ship? We do our best to ship out all orders within 1 business day of placing your order. Transit times typically take between 1-7 days depending on where you are located. All orders currently ship from our location in Lowell, IN. There are expedited shipping options available at checkout if you require the product more quickly.
Do you ship outside of the USA? We currently only ship to the USA and Canada.
What is your return policy? If you’re not 100% satisfied with our products, please reach out to us at info@koyah.com within 30 days of receiving your order and we will make it right. If more than 30 days have gone by since your order was delivered, we will not refund your order.
What is your most mild green powder? Our Kale and Spinach Powders are pretty mild. If you’re sensitive to the addition of greens to your dish, we recommend that you start small (1/2 scoop) and work your way up to a full scoop.
How many scoops should I have a day? We clearly state on each product how much fresh fruit or veggie each scoop of powder is equivalent to. This way you can easily understand how much of each fruit and veggie you are eating. We encourage you to ask a certified dietitian or doctor if you have questions or concerns about how much you should take.
How much kale powder to use? Kale it! That is another personal preference. You can never eat enough fruits and veggies.
Are our products made in a facility that produces grain, dairy or soy? Yes. There are allergen protocols in place to ensure there is no cross contamination with these items. When an allergen is run on the same equipment that we run our products on, we have allergen programs that cover full clean outs and swab testing before releasing the machinery to run any new raw materials without or different allergens. We also have separate storage for all allergen products.
Do we know the quantity of Oxalic Acid in our Organic Spinach Powder? We have not tested our Spinach Powder for this, however we would expect it to be in the product at levels similar to fresh spinach. We do not think the Freeze-drying process would lower it.
How does our Celery Powder compare to Celery Juice? We often get asked how our freeze-dried organic celery powder compares to celery juice. At KOYAH we are all about whole fruits and veggies and our organic celery powder is no different. It is made from freeze-drying whole celery stalks and is then ground into a powder. This means our powder includes all the fiber that is in the celery stalk which is different from a juice which has the fiber removed. A good way to think of it is: our celery powder is more similar to blended celery (smoothie) than a juiced celery.
How do I access my account? Click on “my account” in the top-right corner of the KOYAH website. Enter your email address. If you did not create an account, but you have ordered in the past, click “forgot.” Then enter your email address, and you will have your password reset. When you purchase and sign up for a monthly subscription, our system will automatically create an online account. This account is associated with the email address used when purchasing.
My powder has clumped. What should I do? Every time the product is opened and used, a small amount of air and moisture gets into the jar. This will cause the powder to clump and turn “stale” if the powder is not used over several months, clumping can happen (especially with the fruits which are naturally high in “sticky” sugars). The best thing to do would be to put the clumped powder into the blender and re-blend it into a powder. Then put back into the jar and store in the refrigerator.
There were fewer scoops than the number of servings listed on the container. All of our powders are sold by weight, not by volume. Each container lists the approximate number of servings on the nutritional facts panel. One serving is a level scoop. The weight of each scoop can vary based on the density of each batch of freeze-dried products.
Can I use your products while pregnant and or breastfeeding? This is a personal choice. If you are looking to eat more fruits and vegetables, our products are a great option. If you have further questions, it’s best to consult with your doctor.
No scoop! Help! If you’ve lost your scoop, it’s probably in the bottom of the tub. Take a spoon and search around the bottom of the tub, and you will most likely find the scooper.
Are your products considered raw? It depends on which powders you are asking about. We blanch our kale, broccoli, and collard-greens powders. All of our other powders are considered raw.
Do you know where your products are grown? We specify the country where the fruits and veggies are grown on each product page and product label. We do not specify what state each is grown in because this can change depending on the season we need the product delivered. We always try to source from the USA whenever possible. We never source any of our products from China.
Do you test your products for mold, yeast, and bacteria? We test every finished product for pathogenic bacteria, yeast, and mold to ensure they are safe to eat.
How would you compare the broccoli sprouts to the broccoli powder?

The broccoli sprouts vs broccoli powder is that the sprouts are more coarse or grainy. It doesn't "melt" into the liquid as well like the regular broccoli powder so the texture is not as pleasant. Can it be ground down better?

The particle size of the powder is actually very similar to our broccoli powder. But with broccoli sprout, the "seed portion" of the sprout is quite fibrous and does not dissolve well in liquids. Which is why it doesn't "melt". Unfortunately, this is just the nature of the broccoli sprout powder.

We recommend letting the powder soak in the water for a few minutes which would allow the powder to fully rehydrate which should make it less "gritty" tasting.

What does 1 scoop of organic freeze-dried broccoli sprout powder equate to? 1 scoop of our organic freeze-dried broccoli sprout powder is equivalent to ¼ cup of fresh organic broccoli sprouts.
Is the Sulforaphane present in the Broccoli Sprout powder? Glucoraphanin (which is the precursor to Sulforaphane) is present in our powder. The Myrosinase enzyme (which converts the Glucoraphanin to Sulforaphane) is also present in our product and it is 3rd party tested to ensure it is active.
How many days do you allow the sprouts to grow before freeze-drying them? They are sprouted until the cell wall cracks (typically 4-7 days) and are then freeze-dried to lock in the maximum amount of nutrients possible (including the active myrosinase enzyme and the glucoraphanin). Once dried they are ground into a powder. It is then packaged and tested as a final step. In addition to our standard safety testing which includes microbiological and heavy metal testing, we also test each batch for glucoraphanin content and myrosinase to ensure the enzyme is active and ready to convert that glucoraphanin to sulforaphane once you eat it.
Are the containers kept cool prior to shipping? The containers are kept around 70 degrees.
How many mg of sulforaphane are in a serving of our broccoli sprout powder?

Just like in raw broccoli sprouts, sulforaphane is not present in our broccoli sprout powder. What is present is the glucoraphanin molecule and active myrosinase enzymes. When water is added to our powder, the dormant myrosinase enzyme reactivates and converts the glucoraphanin to sulforaphane.

We test every batch of our broccoli sprout powder for both molecules (glucoraphanin and myrosinase), but do not standardize them to certain levels as they vary from sprout to sprout.

Are any chemicals used to freeze-dry this product? No chemicals are used to freeze-dry the products.
